Mixing It Up

Growing up, my mom would have never let me out of the house in this outfit.  "You look ridiculous," she'd say.  "Go change."

Cardigan ~ Loft / Top ~ Banana Republic / Jeans ~ Rag & Bone / Boots ~ Frye
Belt ~ J. Crew / Clutch ~ Missionary Kerrie's / Nail Polish ~ Essie Stylenomics
There were soooo many times I'd find inspiration in Seventeen or Glamour and I'd find myself in a fabulous outfit, only to be sent back upstairs to put on something that "matches" so I wouldn't be the "laughing stock" of our town.  If only I'd just stuck to my guns, I think I'd have been pretty darn cool.

Or pretty weird.  Either way.  But I say, embrace it!

I think that's the reason I love breaking "fashion rules" as an adult.  I like to mix things up, and wear things that shouldn't go together.  It's part of the fun of getting dressed for me.

Print on print?  Heck yes.

Navy with black?  Black with brown?

Bring it on.

Can we talk about how much I loved my husband during this photo shoot, too?  He would make me face the sun, and when I couldn't open my eyes because they were tearing up so badly he'd say, "Haven't you ever seen America's Next Top Model?!  Work through it!"

He'd make me laugh and we had such a good time.  Much better than the "hurry up I'm hungry" photo shoots.  :)

Have a fabulous day!
