October Birchbox

It's that time again... my October Birchbox has arrived!

It's always fun to try out new samples of products, and although I was not happy to see tea and a food item in this month's box (I just don't feel like they belong in a beauty subscription box), I still got some great products!

This month, the theme was goop (as in goop.com).  For September, goop put together some essentials that they believe are worth trying.  So let's see what I got.

~ beautyblender
~ DDF Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minimizer Moisturizing Serum
~ Jouer Lip Enhancer
~ Kiehl's Rosa Arctica Eye
~ Kusmi Tea
~ LUNA Fiber

beautyblender
2 for $25.95

I have wanted this for awhile now so I'm glad I finally got it!  This little miracle-working sponge blends my tinted moisturizer perfectly and I get a flawless application every time!  I never thought a sponge would make a difference (I usually just use my fingers), but it really does help give me a sheer veil of coverage without over-applying, and it's even better when it's soaked in water beforehand.  I also use it to help blend cream bronzer and/or blush so it doesn't streak.  I love it.

DDF Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minimizer Moisturizing Serum
$85.00 for 1.7 oz

DDF is a great brand and one that I trust for skincare.  After using this product my skin seemed smoother, brighter, and I felt like it had a healthy appearance.  I did, however, need an additional moisturizer since my skin was still a little tight (I have combination-to-dry skin that is more on the dry side in cooler weather).  The sample was small, so I was only able to get a few days use out of it, but the company claims that over time, this product will provide ant-aging and regenerative benefits.

Jouer Lip Enhancer
$14 for 0.33 oz

This is a conditioning lip treatment that also claims to plump the lips naturally and minimize the appearance of fine lines.  It's amazing, and I'm completely addicted.  The flavor is a bit mediciney, but other than that, this treatment gets an A+ in my book.  It leaves my lips feeling SO satiny smooth, and I do feel that my lips look more plump!  I have also been using it as an overnight lip conditioning treatment.  When applied before bed, it conditions my lips so well that I have super soft, super smooth lips when I wake up, and I don't need a balm for a good part of the next day!

Kiehl's Rosa Arctica Eye
$46 for 0.5 oz

I kind of have this weird obsession with eye creams, and I love the Kiehl's brand.  This eye cream is a new release, and it's described as a "youth regenerating eye balm."  It goes on thick which I really like for the cooler winter months, but this also made it a little more difficult to blend than the creams that I'm used to (definitely more of a balm than a cream, as described).  Once it was on, however, the skin under my eyes was super hydrated, very soft and actually felt protected from the elements.

Kusmi Tea
$22 for a box of 24

The flavors I received were "Euphoria" (orange chocolate) and "Detox" (mate, the vert and citronelle).  I am not a big fan of chocolate and fruit together, but I tried the Euphoria flavor nonetheless, and didn't love it.  But I probably shouldn't be a judge of flavors I don't necessarily like!  I didn't love the Detox flavor either.  It kind of taste like citronella (is citronelle the same thing, and isn't that used to keep bugs away?).  Not my favorite.  I guess detoxing isn't really supposed to be delicious, though!

LUNA Fiber
$14.95 for a pack of 15

The flavor of this bar was chocolate raspberry, and as I mentioned above, I do not like chocolate and fruit flavors together.  I do like LUNA bars in general.  I think they're a great brand and they're actually one of my go-tos for a quick lunch when I'm short on time.  But I still do not believe they belong in a beauty subscription box!  That said, my husband loved the flavor of this bar.  And it's packed with fiber, so it'll keep you fuller longer.  I would definitely be willing to try more LUNA Fiber bars in different flavors!

  3. I haven't signed up for Birchbox yet, because I'm on the fence about months like this! I 100% agree that food doesn't belong in a beauty box, unless it's in complete addition to the 5 beauty products! Frustrating, but it looks like you made the best of it :)
Have a great week pretty lady!

  4. I love the beauty blender! However the fact that food and tea and sports drinks kept coming in my Birchbox is one of the reasons I stopped receiving it. xx

  5. I've seen more and more of these beauty boxes and have yet to subscribe to one. I think it would make a good Christmas present! Can you just wash that little sponge out and reuse it? I've been using disposable ones and they have been fine but something a little nicer would be better I think...

DDF is excelent brand. They helped me a lot with the acne situation. Kiehl's is also amazing, of course. I'll try the infusions too and let u know. XOXO

  8. I love Kiehl's products...can't wait to hear about this eye cream. I have the midnight recovery and love it! That's very strange they put tea and a protein bar in a beauty box...I would not be too happy about that!

  9. Hmmm...I agree those aren't all your typical finds in the Birchbox. I do like the Luna bars when necessary (and accidentally sent some to my boyfriend, not reading the Nutrition Bars for WOMEN part, ha!). I hope you enjoy the rest of this month's box :)

  11. I understand that what you eat impacts how you feel and your appearance, but I think Birchbox needs to cool it with the food samples. You can go to the store and buy a single Luna bar to taste it without having to commit to a large quantity.

I have never done Birchbox and think these boxes are totally hit or miss. I'd rather just go play at Sephora and find some new products I like!

  26. Here I thought that I was the only one who doesn't like chocolate and fruit together!!!

Anywhoo, I really want one of those beautyblenders! What a great idea!

  27. I agree, no food should be in the box. There are plenty of other monthly subscription services that are food specific.

I have given this as a gift before and the recipient LOVED it.

  28. This is a great box. I've heard a lot about the blender, so that pretty much makes the whole box. Are you going to try the Luna bar? I guess you wouldn't like it if you don't like fruit and chocolate, but it seems like those would be a yummy mix.

  29. I opted for the Goop box, too! There wasn't much in there that I haven't received before, oddly enough. I got the lemon flavored Luna bar (I actual have a box at home...they are really good as far as bars go). I love the beauty blender and wish I'd gotten one! I received the Kusmi tea in a box almost a year ago. Although I get what you're saying about the flavor, I ordered a full size box of the Detox because it makes me feel good. I'm a big fan of my Birchbox subscription (apparently there is a waiting list to sign up?), but I have started to get a lot of repeat products. Last month was awesome, so maybe I was expecting an equally exciting follow-up.
