It's that time again... Birchbox time! This month's Birchbox included items aimed at making 2013 the best year ever (and keeping us looking our best). It even contained a fold-out pamphlet with 25 ideas for maximizing your overall happiness. Such a cute idea!
Overall, it was a great box! So let's review...
~ amika Color pHerfection Shampoo ~
~ Harvey Prince Skinny Chic ~
~ My Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer ~
~ theBalm cosmetics Hot Mama ~
~ Deborah Lippmann the Stripper to go (Beauty Extra) ~
amika Color pHerfection Shampoo
$22.00 / Full Size
I was VERY happy with this shampoo! It aims to keep hair color bright and shiny, and contains fortifying omega acids and sea buckthorn berry oil for healing. It is also sulfate free, which is fabulous (sulfates are detergent-like agents that can strip hair and leave it dry). It didn't lather much, which is to be expected with a sulfate-free formula, but it thoroughly cleaned my hair and left it soft, shiny and bouncy! With my fine hair, I always get nervous about moisturizing shampoos, but even in the shower my hair felt soft and full. I highly, highly recommend this shampoo, and I will definitely be buying the full-size myself.
Harvey Prince Skinny Chic
$21.00 - $55.00 / Full Size
Yeah yeah, you know I hate perfume samples; but this one was pretty awesome! Which is funny, because I really loved the last Harvey Prince perfume sample I received as well. The scent is light and refreshing, with the essence of green apple, mint and amber. The scent is intended to leave you feeling young, slim and beautiful, and I can certainly say that it left me feeling youthful, pretty and happy. The only caveat I have is that the scent doesn't last very long.
My Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer
$68.00 / Full Size
That's not a typo - "My" is the name of the brand. My skin is so, so dry right now, I didn't have much hope for this moisturizer, especially in a mattifying formula which is not really necessary for me. But I was pleasantly surprised by how hydrated and soft my skin felt. This moisturizer felt like a primer, so I didn't add an actual primer under my makeup. It helped my makeup go on smoothly and evenly, and lasted all day. Fabulous, fabulous product. I'd say it's worth the price, for sure.
theBalm cosmetics Hot Mama
$20.00 / Full Size
I love theBalm products! This blush is a really pretty golden-peach shade that provides a natural, gorgeous glow. I've been using it every day since I opened it! The shade could be compared to NARS Orgasm, although the peach shade is slightly darker in the Hot Mama. This would be gorgeous on any skin tone. In love.
Deborah Lippmann the Stripper to go
$12.00 / Set of 6
This is the only product I haven't had a chance to try yet since I just got a manicure prior to opening my Birchbox. But I have heard fantastic things about these nail polish remover mitts, and the quality of all Deborah Lippmann products is outstanding.

oh I would love a Mattifying Moisturizer - wish that I had gotten that!
ReplyDeleteI have an Amika curling wand and it's amazing, so I can only imagine how the rest of their products are!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the scent! I really like the smell, just wish it would last longer.
ReplyDeleteI'm in dire need of a new shampoo. I rotate between 2 different ones now, but I think my hair is sick of both!

I love the Hot Mama blush! As soon as it runs out, though, I'm heading for the NARS Orgasm. It seems like everyone is talking about how awesome it is!
ReplyDeleteOh that shampoo sounds fabulous! That is awesome that its sulfate free but still left your hair feeling soft.

hot balm mama... stripper to go... these are some sexy lil' names in your jan box ;)
ReplyDeleteI actually think it's such a superb idea to have the stripper to go gloves. the way i peel the shilac nail polish off my nails after a few weeks doesn't seem to be good since it's actually peeling off part of my nail! ARGH!
I've liked pretty much every amika product I have tried from BB. I didn't get this shampoo, but I also don't have colored hair. So, I have seen several other people get the mattifying moisturizer...but I don't really know what mattifying means? Sounds like it works well though :)
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh, I so wanna check out this stripper stuff! ;) let me know I once you try it out.
ReplyDeleteAnother great review!I've gotten the "My" Moisturizer and the Hot Mama Balm. Love them both. I'm sure that I'll probably get some of the other products in future boxes because I think I see a trend that Birchbox sends the same products to people, just on a different schedule. It's nice to know that you like the products I'll probably end up getting :)
ReplyDeleteI seriously wish I had gotten the mattifying moisturizer! I LOVE Hot Mama as a blush. Totally reminds me of NARS Orgasm!
ReplyDeleteThat moisturizer sounds amazing! My skin is insanely dry so I've been looking for something new to try.
