Woven Like A Basket

I love capes, but had never found the style particularly wearable, or at least practical, enough for me to buy one.  When I saw this draped sweater jacket, with the look of a cape complete with the practicality of sleeves, I had to snap it up.  I love the basket-weave texture of the sweater too, it adds a little extra oomph.

It not only pairs well with my favorite jeans and rustic Fryes, but also adds some Jackie O-type style to a little black (or red!) dress and heels.  It's so versatile, actually, that I can even wear it to work with trousers.  There are so many options for this piece, it was definitely worth the money.

What's your favorite "wear with anything" piece???

  3. Gorgeous investment piece! I had been searching for a camel cape all fall but never found the perfect one (except one also at BR that sold out too quickly). Love this alternative...thanks for the tip :)

  4. I know exactly what you mean about capes, I've had one for a year and still haven't worn it! I totally agree with you that this one adds a little Jackie O glamour and it's the perfect neutral shade to go with so many looks and colors like red or black like you said. You look beautiful and you've inspired me to wear my cape before spring is here. Nice post Niki! :)

  9. What a great texture. I love it! My go-to is something similar, a long sweater that snaps up the front. I throw it over everything!

  14. I definitely love the texture of that! And the color is great too. My mom bought me a cropped swing coat for Christmas. I like it, a lot, but have NO idea what to wear it with =[

  21. I think capes look great on the runway, but in real life they don’t seem all that wearable- so I’m right there with you! However, this sweater does a good job of making the same style seem totally wearable!

  22. OBSESSED with this sweater!!

I think my wear with anything piece, honestly, is my lululemon wunder unders. Obviously they are perfect for working out, but they are also great to wear with sweater tops. Nice and thick and look like leggings. Love!
