It’s that time again… Birchbox time!
New to Birchbox? It’s a monthly beauty sample subscription service that sends travel sized beauty samples (and sometimes even a full sized product!) to your door each month, so you can experiment and find great new products ranging from skincare to haircare to makeup, and more. And it’s only $10 a month, which is such a deal considering what you get!
This month, the theme was “Heritage,” in honor of Birchbox’s anniversary. As such, the Heritage theme is an exploration of Birchbox’s evolution and milestones, and a look of what is to come (namely, Birchbox product picks for fall).
So, let’s take a look inside the box!

~ Keratherapy Keratin Infused Deep Conditioning Mask
Ruffian Nail Lacquer
$10.00 / Full Size
This lacquer claims to be a super glossy, high-end polish that resists chipping for days. I received the shade Delirium, an iridescent royal purple. It’s really beautiful and I can’t wait to try it out!
Serge Normant Meta Luxe Hairspray
$25.00 / 7.5 oz.
I love Serge Normant products and I use hair spray frequently, so I was excited to see this in my box. This claims to provide invisible hold (necessary, in my opinion), instantly adding volume. It also claims to strengthen hair and repair damage. It’ll take some time to see if those claims are actually true, but in the meantime, it smells good and has a very fine mist (similar to L’Oreal Elnett). It didn’t do anything by way of volumizing my hair, but it definitely didn’t flatten it, and it provided a great amount of hold while still allowing my hair to move. I love it.
Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips
$14.50 / 15 ml
I’ve seen this product in other bloggers’ Birchbox reviews, but I was still not prepared to open it in my own. Ummm a nipple balm… that goes on my lips? Gross! I hate the concept. BUT being such a lip balm fanatic, I immediately opened it and tried it for myself, and I have to say, it’s a great product! The thickness of the balm reminds me very much of the Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream, and it has the same mediciney smell (albeit not as strong). But it absorbed instantly and softened my lips almost as instantly. I’m pleasantly surprised. I still don’t know if I can get past the concept enough to buy a full size, but I do really like the product.
Grand Central Beauty S.M.A.R.T. Skin Perfecting Polisher
$38.00 / Full Size
I was really weary of this stuff when I first opened my box. I have ultra-sensitive skin, and there are very few exfoliating products that do not break me out or irritate my skin. I almost dropped this right into my “give to friends” bag, but something stopped me. I read on the Birchbox insert that this product is actually made for sensitive skin and works to smooth, hydrate, tone, and reduce redness, all while exfoliating and removing impurities. That definitely changed my mind and made me think that it may, in fact, be gentle enough for me. I applied as directed, and although I didn’t feel any little exfoliating beads, my skin appeared noticeably brighter afterwards. It didn’t see any difference in redness or tone, but I didn’t break out either, which is a big win in my book!
Keratherapy Keratin Infused Deep Conditioning Mask
$23.00 / Full Size
I’ve never heard of this brand, but I do get regular keratin treatments and I love what they do for my hair. This mask claims to deliver keratin deep into the hair shaft to repair, moisturize and strengthen damaged hair, leaving it glossy and frizz free. I love a good hair mask and this one sounds pretty incredible.
