Today I am sharing with you my top beauty products of 2013! I’m focusing solely on makeup products in this post, mainly because I didn’t want this post to go on forever with allll the skincare, haircare and other beauty products I loved for 2013. But if you would like another post detailing my non-makeup yearly favorites, leave me a comment down below and let me know! I’d be happy to put one up!
Without further adeux, my favorite makeup products of 2013!
This is a newer favorite and I would have included it in my December favorites had I done one! Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation may very well be my holy grail foundation. Those are big words, but I am OBSESSED. This foundation is truly full-coverage, but it mimicks the skin for a natural-looking finish. It is not at all cakey or ‘makeupey’ and it’s neither dewey nor matte – just natural. It does live up to the name with respect to lasting power as well! I have dry skin that can get just a tad shiny in the t-zone, and this foundation did a great job of balancing my skin so that I was neither dry nor oily. It’s perfection!!! (I’m in the shade Light Beige, if you’re wondering.)
I’ve gone through three tubes of Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint this year alone. I love it for the days that I don’t feel like putting on foundation. It has a decent amount of coverage for a tinted moisturizer and hydrates my skin nicely. Plus, it gives me a gorgeous glow and makes me look alive, which is nice (especially early in the morning when all I want to do is crawl back into bed)!
Since the moment I discovered Maybeline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in the Brightener shade, I have not stopped using it. It takes just a second to apply and it brightens up my eye area and makes me look instantly awake. It’s a miracle worker.
I am obsessed with the Ambient Lighting Powders from Hourglass! Diffused Light is my favorite shade because it has a bit of yellow to it, which helps mask any redness I have in my skin. I use it as a setting powder, but the Ambient Lighting Powders can be used as subtle highlighters as well. The powder is ultra fine and does what the name implies – diffuses the light – to leave the skin looking flawless with a healthy (not shiny!) glow.
Benefit Hoola bronzer has survived as an overall favorite of mine for years! It is the perfect bronze shade for me – not too dark or muddy – and doesn’t contain any shimmer so it’s great for contouring.
Hands down my favorite highlighter EVER (as of yet) is theBalm Cosmetics Mary LouMANizer. It’s a gorgeous champagne shade that works well on every skin tone, with a super-fine shimmer that catches light and gives the skin an ethereal glow. I’m obsessed. (Plus, I love theBalm’s cheeky product names!)
*I’m not including a blush in my 2013 favorites because, frankly, I can’t choose a favorite! I’ve been back and forth between many different brands and shades that I feel are fantastic, and one does not particularly stand out amongst the group.*
I own a lot of makeup palettes, but the Lorac Pro Palette is the one I reach for the most since buying it back in June. I can’t believe I’ve never included it in a favorites post or video! This palette has 8 matte shades and 8 shimmery shades, all neutrals, and is perfect for creating a multitude of looks. The shadows are all highly pigmented, and they’re super soft and blendable. This palette is a must have in my book!
On the days that I can’t be bothered to create a full eye makeup look but want to look like I did, Maybeline Color Tattoos in Barely Branded and Bad to the Bronze have been my go-to eye combo. I use Barely Branded on the lid and swipe Bad to the Bronze in the crease and I’m out the door. The shades work so beautifully together and create the perfect subtle bronze eye look. Plus, they last all day.
I’ve raved about Sephora’s Nano Eyeliner in a couple of my monthly favorites posts this year, and I will probably continue to do so until Sephora stops making it. (Dear Sephora, please don’t stop making it!) The pencil is soft and glides smoothly over the eyelid without pulling, and it provides saturated, long wearing color. Plus, you can’t beat the $5 price tag!
We all know that I think Diorshow Mascara tops them all, but MAN Benefit They’re Real! is good! I thought about including them both, but honestly, They’re Real! really blew me away this year, so I’ve decided to include only this mascara in my 2013 Beauty Favorites. It is volumizing and super lengthening without clumping, and it doesn’t budge. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it in my opinion.
The MAC Eye Brows brow pencil in Fling has been my go-to eyebrow product for years. It’s the perfect color for my light brows and the formula is soft and easy to work with. I find that it lasts all day as well. I’ve heard from other beauty bloggers that this pencil tends to dry out or break on them, but I’ve gone through 4 of these and so far, this hasn’t happened to me. I love it!
Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick is hands down my favorite lipstick to date! The formula is ultra-creamy and feels comfortable on the lips, not at all drying. My favorite shades are Naked, a nude-pink (love it with Buxom’s Full-On Lip Polish in Sugar, mentioned below, too!) and Manic, a soft wine shade.
As far as lipgloss goes, I love all of the Buxom Full-On Lip Polishes. They come in a range of beautiful shades that compliment a variety of skin tones, and I love the tingly feeling of the gloss on my lips. But the shade Sugar, a rosy beige, has been in my purse constantly this year (and it’s almost gone! Boo!). It’s the perfect neutral gloss with a hit of color to wear either by itself or over lipstick.
I also have to mention Dior Addict Lip Glow. This is a balm in stick form that works with your unique body chemistry to develop into the perfect shade for you. It applies smoothly and I love the pretty pink shade that I get from it. It lasts quite a while too!
Formula X for Sephora nail polishes are a new favorite, but they have become a quick favorite! I am currently wearing Center of My Universe, a rose gold glitter, and I love it so, so much. These polishes apply nicely, they’re long wearing and the shade selection is incredible! I’ll have a full review of Center of My Universe posted soon!
