I’ve owned la prairie products in the past, and I’ve loved the brand for as long as I can remember. That said, I was thrilled to have recently received the new la prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Dry Oil and Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Cream for review. I tested the products out for a period of 3 weeks, and I’ve included my candid thoughts for you in this post today.
We’ll start with the la prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Dry Oil. This is a dry oil for the face that claims to help support the skin’s natural lipid function and seal in moisture with a blend of pure and rare oils, leaving skin smooth and glowing.
Those of you with oily skin – don’t shy away from this! Oils are very hydrating, yes, but they are also great for oily skin because oils can, in fact, control the natural production of oil in the sebaceous glands. By applying oil to your face, you are essentially limiting overproduction of your natural skin oil, therefore, balancing the complexion. Pretty great, huh?
Ok, so back to the review. The Ice Crystal Dry Oil is packaged in an iridescent silver cylinder with a mirrored silver lid. It really gives that luxe, ice crystal feeling. It’s beautiful. There is a dropper attached to the cap, and a button on the top of the cap to assist in using the dropper. The dropper only picks up about 3 drops of the oil at a time, which is more than enough for application.
I applied this each morning by dispensing 2 drops and warming between my fingertips, then patting onto my skin.
This dry oil is not thick or greasy and does not leave the skin looking shiny at all, just refreshed and radiant. I loved this oil with the first use, but with continued daily use, I noticed that my skin became much softer and had more of a natural glow. I was even able to go back to more sheer coverage BB creams and foundations. My makeup applied beautifully over this product as well (but always wait about 10 minutes after applying moisturizer to apply foundation – just a general rule of thumb).
I will admit, the scent is a bit dated, but in this particular product, it is not overpowering at all.
la prairie’s Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Cream is a moisturizing cream that claims to melt into the skin and restore its youthful appearance. The Swiss Ice Crystal complex contained in the cream also claims to protect and fortify the skin against environmental assaults. A blend of plant stem cells is included to help firm and smooth the skin, keeping it younger looking longer.
The packaging of this product is beautiful as well. The same iridescent silver surrounds the body of the pot, while the lid is a mirrored silver. Very appealing.
I found that this cream was ultra hydrating and really nice to use. The cream is thick, yet silky, so it applies quite nicely and absorbs into the skin rapidly.
I used it mainly at night, but I also mixed it with the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Dry Oil on mornings when I was feeling a bit more dry. Upon applying the cream, my skin instantly felt softer and smoother, and with continued use I did find that my skin was retaining more moisture than usual, and even looked more radiant.
The only caveat I have is that the price of each of these products is $300.00. I know you’re thinking that I’m insane for reviewing something this highly priced on my blog. But I’ll tell you, good skincare is worth the investment if you can afford to shell out for it. And if you have the money to spend, I highly recommend that you try out the la prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Dry Oil and Cream! If not, try and snag yourself a sample if you see it available – you’ll love it!
I have personally owned la prairie brand skincare products in the past, and I stand behind them 100%. This is truly a quality brand containing products with visible benefits.
Miles high in the Swiss Alps, in a world of sheer ice crystals, beauty transcends time.
Here, two seemingly fragile plants and one tiny algae survive and thrive in the harshest setting on earth, developing strategies to outwit the environment. It’s only fitting then that la prairie, with a heritage deeply rooted in Switzerland, harnessed these extreme-survivalist secrets into the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Collection. The discovery combines some of the most sophisticated survivalist secrets.
