Obviously, I’m a makeup girl. And I’ve got quite the thing for palettes. A number of colors all in one place that lets me experiment to my heart’s content and gives me a number of different looks? I am all for it!
BH Cosmetics recently released their Forever Nude and Forever Glam palettes, and I was pretty excited to test them out. Each palette contains 6 eyeshadows, 1 highlight, 2 blushes and 2 lipsticks that work together to help complete the makeup look of your choosing.
Today, I’ll be focusing on the Forever Nude palette, which is on sale for $11.95 (it’s normally priced at $21.95)! That’s quite the deal right there, my friends!
The Forever Nude palette contains a mix of neutral shades, many of which with pinkish undertones. Although the blushes are a bit more sheer, and a couple of the eyeshadows are a bit sheer as well (more on this below), I was pleasantly surprised to find the products generally soft and easily blendable, and many of them quite pigmented! I’ll break it down below, complete with swatches:
The blushes include a nude shade and a neutral pink shade, both with shimmer. These shades would look great on a variety of skin tones, since they’re both pretty neutral.
I found that the blushes were somewhat sheer, but still pigmented enough to see some color with one swipe (the color from the swatches above is from 3 – 4 swipes). This allows for a variety of possibilities when it comes to application as the color can be worn sheer for a more natural look, or built up for more pigmentation (darker skin tones would want to build a bit).
As far as the eyeshadows go, I would describe the shades as follows:
Top Row: Cool, Silvery Pink Frost / Glittery Cool Bronze-Taupe
Middle Row: Matte, Rose Pink // Warm Ivory Shimmer
Bottom Row: Warm Bronze Shimmer // Chocolate Shimmer
So, I swatched them a little all over the place, but on my arm the warm ivory is first, then the three shades from the left-hand side, then the top and bottom shades from the right-hand side. Make sense?
Anyway, my favorites were the three highly frosted/shimmery shades – the light pink frost (which reminds me SO much of a Cover Girl shadow I used to wear allll the time back in the day), the warm brown shimmer and the bronzy taupe shimmer. These shades are ultra soft and highly pigmented. I found the chocolate shade (far right) to be just a bit chalky, but the color became absolutely beautiful when built up. The ivory and rose shades were a bit more sheer, but again, still buildable.
The palette also comes with a warm, light golden shimmer (in the middle) that I found to be a versatile highlight shade that would work well on the inner corners of the eyes, browbones, and even on the high points of the cheekbones. This shade is very soft, highly pigmented and quite blendable.
Finally, we get to the lipstick. I am really impressed with this lipstick! One is a nude with a touch of pink and the other is a bright, hot pink. The lipsticks are so creamy and have the perfect amount of pigmentation – they’re highly pigmented, yet still ever-so-slightly sheer, so they give the look of a highly pigmented gloss. I also found the lipsticks to remain true to their shades in the palette when applied to the lips.
Overall, I’m impressed with the quality of many of the products in the palette. My favorites are the lipsticks, but as I mentioned above, I also really love the three shimmery eyeshadow shades and the highlight shade. Plus, the Forever Nude palette is thin enough to throw in your bag when you’re on the go. The fact that it contains many of the products you need for a full makeup look, all packed into this small-ish palette, but still offering a decent amount of each product, is pretty great as well.
