I’m officially halfway through pregnancy! Woo hoo! It’s crazy how time is flying.
That said, it’s time for my 20 week pregnancy update! And update you, I will!
How far along: 20 weeks
How big is baby?: Baby is the size of a banana, mango or small cantaloupe (depending on which app I’m looking at). All these food references make me hungry. And the thought that I have a banana in my uterus is a little strange. Hi baby!
Weight gain: I’m up a total of 7 pounds since becoming pregnant.
Symptoms: Brace yourself for some TMI. Ok so first of all, my freaking boobs are huge and my nipples are starting to feel sore as well. I also had to go to the hospital due to some bleeding (scariest thing ever) and the doctor found that I have a partial previa, which means that the placenta is low and close to my cervix. The baby is fine, but I’ve been instructed to take it easy, meaning no exercise, strenuous activity or lifting. That’s a bummer because I just got my energy back a few weeks ago and started working out again. But I have a follow up ultrasound in a couple of weeks, and it’s possible that as my uterus grows, the placenta will move up. So this could be a non-issue (and I could be back to exercising in no time) – fingers crossed!
Sleeping: I went and got a Boppy Cuddle Pillow and I’m so happy I did. I’ve been sleeping great thanks to that little wonder.
Food cravings: None.
Food aversions: I hate almonds. But I don’t think it’s an aversion anymore, per se. I just can’t stand the thought of them.
Miss anything?: I love sitting down with a cold craft beer or a margarita in the summertime, so I’m kind of missing those. But not even really that much. Next summer! :)
Gender: It’s a boy!!!
Wedding Rings on or off?: On.
Maternity Clothes?: Oh yeah. I went shopping with my mom last weekend and we bought a ton of stuff! Although I can still wear many of my non-maternity dresses, skirts and tops, if I want to wear pants of any kind, they’re maternity for sure. I’ve also been loving the longer camis and ribbed tanks.
Movement: Yup! I’ve been feeling him roll around quite a bit, but I felt my first actual kick on Saturday. It was so quick, but unmistakable! It was awesome.
What I did/got for baby: I’m now at the point where I feel like we HAVE to get the house and nursery in order ASAP. Time seems to be moving so quickly and I really need to have things completed before he’s here! So we bought the crib and mattress, added the sheets and some decor to our registry, and we’re now shopping for a rocking chair and changing table/dresser. We also got some unexpected (and so generous!) gifts from our family at our little gender reveal party, which included bath products, a rubber ducky, a veterinarian bib (it’s hilarious and so appropriate given how much I love animals), a monkey onesie and little cap, Sophie book, photo frames and a gift card. Whew! And, I’ve been talking to baby because I’m convinced he can hear me and that he understands what I’m saying. So I try to teach him things. Haha.
What I’m looking forward to: Finishing the nursery, buying sooo many tiny baby things, and holding my little guy!
Best moment of the week: Our gender reveal! It was so much fun to surprise our families, and finding out that we’re having a boy and seeing the ultrasound photos were amazing! And I also want to add, maternity shopping with Mom. Although it was a bit of a struggle in the dressing room (I’m so not used to this body yet), we had fun, and I got some great stuff!
