I’ve been playing around with the It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Matte Transforming Eye Shadow Palette for some time now, and I wanted to share it with you today!
The palette is packaged in a blush colored velour case with a magnetic closure. Inside, you’ll find a mirror, along with 14 matte shadows and a pearl “transforming shade” which will transform any matte shadow into a pearl finish with the swipe of a brush.
This is a neutral-based palette that leans a bit to the warm side, but there are enough neutral and cool-toned shades that it would work well with most skin tones. Each shadow is silk infused and contains anti-aging ingredients.
The shades range from a lighter creamy vanilla to mid-toned taupe and mauve to deep chocolate, but the palette also includes some fun colors such as rust, violet, navy, etc., so that we can create an abundance of varying eye looks.
I can’t say that I’m completely in love with the texture of the case the palette is packaged in, but I do love the thin, lightweight design and the magnetic closure. I also like that there’s a mirror on the inside – always a nice touch.
One thing I really love is the softness and blendability of the shadows in this palette. They seem to melt right into each other as they’re applied and allow for a natural, seamless transition between shades. My favorite shades are the warm, mid-toned shadows in the bottom row (Love, Sunrise, Sunset, All Heart, Java and Iconic – swatched in the bottom photo, below). They seem to be the most pigmented and buttery of the bunch.
I found Midnight to be a bit chalky and although it was still quite easy to work with, it didn’t blend as effortlessly as the other shades. You can see the texture in the swatch in the middle photo above. It’s a nice color, just not my favorite in terms of formulation.
Another shadow that wasn’t my favorite was Sheer Joy (top photo, above). It’s more sheer in pigmentation, which isn’t necessarily the worst thing ever, just not what I expected. The swatch only looks opaque because I swatched the shade multiple times to build up the color for the photo.
Overall, the shade range and formulation of the shadows in the Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Palette are on point. And as a 30-something, I do have to admit that I love that each shadow is formulated with anti-aging ingredients as well.
Another bonus – the shadows are talc free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, fragrance-free and cruelty-free!
